We are currently working with Wessex Community Assets to investigate the potential for a construction level fabrication-lab for Dorset. The centre would act as a hub to investigate the use of local materials in the rural built-environment. With a range of machinery to fabricate 1:1 experimental building elements and space for small innovative businesses to collaborate the centre will allow building designs to be adapted to local material use and will allow fabrication methods to be developed. We will be working on business-planning for the fab-lab and timber specific areas. We hope the the centre itself will be eventually built using timber in innovative design and fabrication processes. The business-planning is being funded by REACH whose aim to allow social enterprises to raise significant investments.
